Gary Joshua Garrison was raised in the mountains outside of Denver, Co. He has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado Denver and, in 2016, he received his MFA from Arizona State University where he taught undergraduate English and creative writing.

He has worked as a Prose Editor for Hayden’s Ferry Review, an editorial intern for The Missouri Review, an associate editor for Copper Nickel, and Iron City Magazine, published fiction in an array of journals, both online and in bound reams of paper, and mused extensively about film (mostly at The Playlist where he is a copy editor and contributor). Along with his friend, the poet Jacqueline Balderrama, he spent a year teaching creative writing at Arizona State Prison.

Currently, he works as a copy editor for the Columbia Missourian.

He spends his time with his wife watching movies and endlessly repainting the apartment they share with two torpid cats and several wilting houseplants in central Missouri.
